Random stuff
I've been lazy updating my blog. Partly because I haven't been doing well in this 2007 POY. I've only cashed twice and currently ranked #39 (all stats are reset 1/1/07). Although last night I did pretty good in the cash game. One big hand was playing Omadraw. Blinds were $1 + $1 (small blind is same as big blind). Max buy-in is $100 although I probably had ~$200 in front of me from winning a previous Omaha hand.
Omadraw is a game we made up. It's based on Omaha, but you have an option to trade one card on each street. This is a high only game with pot limit rules. I believe I was in late position and had JJ44. Most people limp in on the cash games, so we had a family pot. I decided not to trade any cards. The flop is 744. I flopped quads. Nice. It gets checked to me, I decide to slow play and check it. No one bets. Some people had traded cards, but I did not as I wanted to see if I could also get quad J's. Turn is a K. I need to build the pot a bit. It gets checked to me again and I make a 3/4 pot size bet. There was 2 callers. I decide at this point to trade a card. Not because it would improve my hand, but it would seem odd to the other players if I wasn't trading anything. I throw away a J and pick up a 7. River is a 3. There is no flush on the board, but with a paired board, there was a possibility someone hit a boat. The only hand that would really pay me off is if someone had KKxx. 3 players left in the pot. Early position puts out a bet almost the size of the pot ~$15. Next player folds. I make a small speech about if the 3 had helped him. I raise to $45. The great thing here is if he folds, I can just show 74 for a horrible boat and put him on tilt. He decides to go all-in. I call. he shows KK and I scoop the pot worth over $400. By the end of the night, I cashed out $700. Nice.
