Happy One Year Anniversay

Well, it was actually a few days ago when Airi and I celebrated our One Year Anniversary. I've just been too lazy to blog about it :P

In the morning as we both got ready for work, I surprised her with a little gift in a familiar blue colored bag. What I didn't know is that there is a set tradition on types of gifts depending on the year of the anniversay. In fact, the first year is "paper", so I should have just given her an empty bag. Shows how much I know about this stuff.

After work, I took her to the place where I almost proposed: The Dining Room at Salish Lodge. I had even requested a window seat. We had a good dinner sharing two appetizers. The first one was a langoustine dish which is like a small lobster which was pretty good. The second one was suckling pig which which better than I expected. It was roasted pig with the skin. The skin was perfectly crispy without being tough and the meat easily came apart.

For the main course, Airi chose the Kobe Beef Cheeks and I had the Seared Sea Scallops. I enjoyed the scallops more simply because we thought the Kobe dish would be more like a steak, but was more like a stew. I think we should have ordered the chateubriand (aka tenderloin roast) which is carved table side, but maybe next time (we've had it before and I remember it being really good).
