Small Updates

I've been too lazy to post any updates (plus not much has happened recently). As for MSPOY standings, I'm currently #19 out of about 100 people. We had a team poker tournament last Thursday that I won with my partner. Basically everyone is in a team of 2 people. At any time, one of the two people play. With every round, the player changes. Every fourth round, there is a randomization period so that players will be playing different players rather than the same partners. You also can consult with your partner once per round for one street of one hand. When we got heads-up, I was playing and my opponent made the same mistake twice. On one hand, I was on the button and raised preflop. He called. On the flop, he bet out, I believe I had bottom or middle pair and vocalized a raise, but didn't put any chips out yet. He immediately says "all-in". Since my hand wasn't that strong, I put in the minimum raise and folded. A few hands later, he raised preflop from the button. I have KQo and call. The flop is AJT giving me the nuts. Before I even act, he announces "all-in". I tell him I check, he goes all-in, and I call. He shows 97 diamonds for a flush draw. He doesn't hit and I win the tournament (with my partner getting half the money and half the points). It's a fun twist, but you definitely have to trust your partner when you're not playing.

In other poker news, I've decided to play WSOP circuit event #15 which is a $1500 No Limit Hold-Em tournament on June 9th. I'll be flying down the evening of the 8th (Friday) and leaving Monday night. The tournament is scheduled to last 3 days, so we'll see how it goes.

how does a WSOP circuit event work? does the top spot get a ticket to the main event?

The circuit events are independent of the Main Event (they aren't satellites). Each circuit event is a mini-tournament (the one I'm playing is scheduled to be a 3-day event). There will probably be several hundred players. The winner of each circuit event and the Main Event will get a freeroll (don't have to pay entry fee) into the Tournament of Champions.
