Sicko
First, let me say that I know I haven't been good about keeping my blog semi-updated. In anycase, I recently saw the Michael Moore "documentary" Sicko. I put documentary in quotes since although I'm sure the facts presented in the movie are true, there is certainly a lot of opinion being presented in the movie and I would have to think that some facts were left out as well.
Overall, the movie does make a good point about the US health care system. Nixon moved to privatize health care, and since then, the US is ranked fairly low among developed countries in terms of health care. Currently, I have pretty good health coverage through my employer, however, I do think that universal health care makes sense (even if it means higher taxes). However, beyond health care, I think there was a more important message from the movie. The US is a country where the people are afraid of the government rather than the government being afraid of the people.
